Watson Falls

Tall North Umpqua waterfall reached by a short trail through mossy forest.

Watson Falls is one of the best waterfall stops on the North Umpqua Highway east of Roseburg. The water drops over a basalt wall into a green, mossy amphitheatre, with a short trail from the parking area making the view accessible without turning the day into a major hike.

It is a long drive from town, so make it part of a broader North Umpqua day with river viewpoints, other falls, or a picnic. Spring brings the strongest flow, but the forest setting stays worthwhile through most of the year.
