The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum operates at Reading Regional Airport (Carl A. Spaatz Field), named after the Reading-born general who commanded American strategic bombers in World War II. The museum focuses on military aviation of the mid-20th century, with a collection of restored and restoration-in-progress aircraft including WWII-era fighters and bombers, Korean War jets, and Cold War-era military planes.
The centrepiece of the museum's annual calendar is the World War II Weekend, held each June, which brings together dozens of vintage aircraft, vehicles, re-enactors, and period equipment for one of the largest WWII-themed air shows in the country. If you happen to be passing through Reading in June, it is worth timing the visit around the event. The rest of the year, the collection is accessible and well-documented, though some aircraft are always under active restoration and may not be on display.
