Saxonburg Historic District

Main Street and its immediate side streets form the Saxonburg Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The district preserves much of the German colonial layout from the 1832 settlement: a wide main street, the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church at one end, the Roebling House further along, and a string of mid-19th-century clapboard houses on long narrow lots.

A walk from one end to the other takes about twenty minutes. The historical society offers occasional self-guided maps from its office on Main Street. The street is at its best during the Festival of the Arts in early September, when the whole length is closed to traffic.
