The Pine Creek Rail Trail follows the former railway grade along the floor of the gorge. It is the best way to feel the scale of the canyon from below, moving beside the creek under steep, wooded slopes.
Most visitors sample a section by bike from one of the trailheads rather than attempting the full route. The grade is gentle, but distances add up quickly, and services are limited once you are in the gorge.
