Hilton Head Golf

Top-tier courses winding through oaks, marshes, and oceanfront dunes

Hilton Head Island has over two dozen golf courses, many designed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Pete Dye, and Robert Trent Jones. The island consistently ranks among the best golf destinations in the United States, and it is easy to see why: courses wind through maritime forests of live oak and Spanish moss, along tidal marshes, and out to oceanfront holes with Atlantic views.

Harbour Town Golf Links, home of the RGA Heritage tournament, is the most famous — its lighthouse behind the 18th green is one of golf's most recognizable finishing holes. Robert Trent Jones Course at Palmetto Dunes and the Arthur Hills course at Palmetto Hall are also standouts. Most resort courses welcome visiting players, though tee times at peak-season (March through May) should be booked well ahead.
