Boca Chica State Park

Boca Chica State Park protects a remote stretch of beach and dunes east of Brownsville, where the Rio Grande reaches the Gulf of Mexico. It feels much wilder than the resort beaches on South Padre Island, with open sand, birdlife, and a sense of reaching the edge of Texas.

Access is by road from Brownsville, and conditions can change with storms, tides, and activity around the nearby launch site. Bring water, fuel, and sun protection, and do not expect the services of a developed beach park.
