Fort Bend County

Houston-area county of suburban cities, Brazos River history, and old railroad towns

Fort Bend County is one of the fastest-growing areas in the United States, situated southwest of Houston. Sugar Land, Missouri City, and Stafford are the main suburban communities.

The twin cities of Rosenberg and Richmond sit near the center of the county. Richmond is the county seat with several historical museums, while Rosenberg has an antiques district and a railroad museum.

Brazos Bend State Park is the highlight for visitors, with over 4,000 acres of diverse wildlife, hiking trails, and the Fort Bend Observatory, home to one of the largest telescopes in the country that remains open to the public.
