Rothko Chapel

Quiet interfaith chapel built around Mark Rothko's dark, meditative canvases

Rothko Chapel is a small, octagonal sanctuary on the Menil campus, open to people of every faith and none. Inside, fourteen large Mark Rothko canvases make the room feel spare, solemn, and unusually still.

It is best visited together with the Menil Collection next door. Entry is free, and the outdoor grounds are worth a short pause even if you are not staying long.
