Millard's Crossing collects old East Texas buildings into a walkable village north of the center. You will find log houses, a schoolhouse, a church, and other structures that show how rural life changed from rough frontier cabins to more settled Victorian forms.
It is a reconstructed setting, not an untouched village, but it is done with enough care to be worthwhile. Go when you have time to linger, especially if there is a living-history event or craft demonstration.
