Schlitterbahn is a huge summer water park built into the same river culture that made New Braunfels famous. The rides range from lazy river floats to fast slides, and several sections use or echo the spring-fed water that runs through town.
It is not subtle, and it is busiest when Texas is hottest. Still, for families or anyone who wants a full water-park day between Austin and San Antonio, it is one of the main reasons New Braunfels belongs on the map.
