Dell Diamond

The Dell Diamond is one of the better minor-league baseball parks in Texas — a comfortable 11,000-seat stadium that opened in 2000 and has won several stadium-of-the-year awards at the Triple-A level. The Round Rock Express are the Houston Astros' top farm club, and games here attract local families and baseball fans who appreciate the intimate atmosphere and generally excellent sight lines.

Tickets are inexpensive compared to major league games, the ballpark food is solid Texan fare (brisket sandwiches, nachos), and the experience is genuinely enjoyable. The season runs April through September, with home games most nights. On hot summer evenings, the cheap upper-deck seats in the shade are often the best option.

A story
The Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, has produced a remarkable number of major league players over the years. The stadium is named after Dell Technologies, whose sprawling corporate campus a few miles away transformed Round Rock from a quiet limestone-quarry town into one of the fastest-growing cities in America.
