Chisholm Trail Crossing Park

Chisholm Trail Crossing Park sits along Brushy Creek on the northwest edge of the old downtown and is where you will find the round rock itself — the large limestone boulder in the streambed that gave the city its name. The park is attractively landscaped, with walking trails along the creek bank and interpretive signs explaining the town's role as a major crossing on the Chisholm Trail.

The park is small but worthwhile. It connects the history you read about on the main street to the actual geography: here is the creek, there is the low-water crossing, and the flat rock that made it all possible. A pleasant morning walk combines the park with a circuit of the old commercial district and a stop for doughnuts.
