The Square

The Square is the small, three-sided open space at the centre of Bellows Falls, with the Immanuel Episcopal Church (1867, Gothic Revival) on its west side and a row of brick commercial buildings around it. Most of the buildings date from the 1880s and 1890s, the village's industrial peak.

A handful of art galleries, a bookshop, a couple of cafes and the Flat Iron Exchange occupy the storefronts these days. The whole village is small enough to walk in an hour, and a circuit of the square plus the canal path covers all the ground you need.
