Gravelly Point is a strip of parkland squeezed between the George Washington Memorial Parkway and the Potomac River, just north of Reagan National Airport's main runway. Aircraft land and take off directly overhead at low altitude — close enough to feel the turbulence and read the tail numbers. On summer afternoons, families spread blankets on the grass with coolers and look up.
The park also has a pleasant riverfront walk with views across to the National Mall. The Mount Vernon Trail runs through it. It's an easy cycling destination from central DC via Key Bridge and the trail along the Virginia bank.
