Rosslyn occupies the bluff above the Potomac directly across from Georgetown, connected to it by Key Bridge. It is the densest part of Arlington — a cluster of office towers and residential high-rises built from the 1960s onward — and its primary draw for visitors is the view. From the hilltop above the Metro station (or from the rooftop of several buildings), the panorama across the river to Georgetown, the National Cathedral, and the monuments of the Mall is exceptional.
The neighbourhood itself has an improving restaurant and bar scene around the Metro area. The Mount Vernon Trail, the bicycle path along the Virginia side of the Potomac, passes through Rosslyn on its way to the Mount Vernon estate 17 miles south.
