Auburn Post Office (Historic)

The former Auburn Post Office building on Auburn Avenue is a handsome example of New Deal-era federal architecture, built in 1935 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building's limestone facade and classical detailing are typical of the dignified public architecture the federal government favoured during the Depression era, when such buildings were intended to signal permanence and civic confidence during uncertain times.

The interior contains WPA murals — a common feature of 1930s federal buildings — depicting scenes from the Green River Valley's agricultural and natural history. The building is no longer in use as a post office but is worth a look from the outside as part of any walk through the historic downtown.
