The Pioneer Church, also known as the Congregational Church, was built in 1895 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It stands at 125 Columbia Street, a white clapboard building in what historians call Northwest Style — straightforward, practical, and a good match for the community that built it.
The church is now used by the Pioneer Community Association rather than as an active congregation. It's one of the better-preserved examples of late 19th-century vernacular religious architecture in southwest Washington, and worth a look if you're walking Cathlamet's compact downtown.
