Lewis and Clark Discovery Center

A small interpretive centre on the Clarkston waterfront, focused on the Corps of Discovery's arrival here in 1805.

The Lewis and Clark Discovery Center sits on the waterfront greenway at the Clarkston end of the Interstate Bridge across the Snake River. It is a small but well-curated centre devoted to the Corps of Discovery's passage through the Lewiston–Clarkston area in 1805 and again on the return in 1806, when they wintered with the Nez Perce upriver on the Clearwater. The exhibits trace the meeting of cultures here — Lewis and Clark were the first known Euro-Americans to encounter the Nez Perce in their homeland — and the longer history of the river as a route and a boundary.

Free to enter and modest in scale, it pairs well with a stroll along the riverfront path immediately outside. Plan 45 minutes.
