Crystal Mountain Ski Resort

Washington's largest ski resort sits at the end of Highway 410, about 15 miles east of Enumclaw. Crystal Mountain has over 2,600 acres of skiable terrain, good snow reliability, and vertical drop that challenges even strong skiers. The summit gondola at Summit House delivers perhaps the finest accessible view of Mount Rainier anywhere — close enough to see the glaciers clearly, far enough to take in the full mountain.

In summer, the ski area becomes a hiking and mountain biking base. The gondola operates for sightseers, and trails from the ski area connect to backcountry routes in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The summit is accessible to anyone fit enough for the gondola ride.

A story
The Crystal Mountain gondola, Summit House, runs year-round, and on a clear day the views from the top are among the best of any chairlift-accessible point in the continental United States — Mt. Rainier filling the entire southern sky from a summit you can reach without crampons. In summer, wildflowers cover the slopes and the gondola runs for hikers.
