Washington State University is the reason Pullman exists as more than a small farming town. The campus climbs the east side of town, with broad lawns, brick and basalt buildings, sports venues, museums, and long views over the Palouse hills. Even if you are not visiting a student, a walk through campus gives you the best sense of the city.
