Yakima Valley Museum is the best single place to understand the city and valley. Its exhibits cover natural history, Plateau cultural objects, pioneer life, and the fruit industry that made the valley famous.
There is also a restored Art Deco soda fountain, which gives the visit a more local feel than a standard county museum. Start here if Yakima is more than a fuel stop.
