Man Mound

Rare surviving humanoid effigy mound built by Late Woodland people.

Man Mound is a small, powerful archaeological stop east of Baraboo. It is the only surviving humanoid effigy mound in North America, made by Late Woodland people roughly a thousand years ago.

The visit is brief, but worth it if you care about the older history under the Wisconsin landscape. Treat it as a respectful stop, not a roadside curiosity.
