Jackson County Historical Society Museum

The Jackson County Historical Society operates a small museum in the original Carnegie Library building on Main Street, preserving the county's history from its establishment in 1853 through the lumbering era, farming settlement, and into the 20th century. The collection includes period photographs, documents, farm equipment, and artefacts from the Ho-Chunk Nation, who have a significant presence in Jackson County.

The museum is a local archive and community resource as much as a tourist attraction, but visitors with an interest in small-town Wisconsin history or in the history of the Ho-Chunk people will find it worth an hour's exploration. The Carnegie Library building itself, built in 1914, is an attractive piece of small-town civic architecture.
