Racine Zoological Gardens is a small city zoo on the Lake Michigan shore. It is not the reason to cross the state, but it is a useful family stop and gives the northern lakefront more to do than simply walk and look at water.
Hours and events change by season, so check before heading over. In winter the zoo is quieter and often cheaper.
