The Viroqua Food Co-op, on the north end of Main Street, is the social and commercial heart of the town's organic farming culture. It sells produce, dairy, meat and bread from dozens of Vernon County farms, alongside the usual range of natural-foods groceries. The cafe and deli at the front of the store is a good lunch stop and a useful place to take the temperature of local life — the noticeboard alone is worth a few minutes.
