Grand Theater

The Grand Theater is Wausau's main performing arts venue, a beautifully restored 1927 cinema and vaudeville house that anchors the downtown core. The restored lobby features original terrazzo floors and ornate plasterwork. Today the Grand hosts Broadway touring productions, national concert acts, and local performing arts organizations throughout the year.

The building fell into disrepair in the 1980s but was saved by a community restoration campaign and reopened in 2000. It's worth stepping inside even if you're not catching a show — the interior is one of the finest examples of 1920s theater design still functioning in Wisconsin.
