Snowy Range Scenic Byway

High mountain drive from Centennial into the Snowy Range, with lakes, overlooks, and trailheads.

The Snowy Range Scenic Byway is Centennial's great asset. West of town, Highway 130 climbs quickly from foothills into Medicine Bow National Forest, passing lakes, picnic areas, trailheads, and views toward the pale granite of the Snowy Range.

The drive is short enough to treat as an outing from Laramie, but it deserves stops. In good weather, build in time for Lake Marie, Libby Flats, and at least one short walk. The high section is seasonal, so check road conditions if you are travelling outside summer.

A story
The byway is one of the rare paved routes that puts casual drivers close to alpine Wyoming without a long approach. That ease is also why closures matter: snow usually shuts the high pass for much of the year.
