This art-deco district in the middle of Copacabana is a haven of calm. Buildings are four storeys or lower, and a quiet square has elderly residents playing chess next to children in the playground. A nice contrast to the busy beachfront just a few blocks away, and popular with budget travellers thanks to several hostels in the area.
