One of Rio's most hidden and beautiful beaches, tucked between Sao Conrado and Barra da Tijuca. Access is through a gated residential condominium on Estrada do Joa -- guards will let you in. The beach is small, sheltered, and feels very private. Good for surfing, though the sun disappears behind the cliffs earlier than on the east-facing beaches. One of the safest beaches in Rio, thanks to the controlled access.
