The Mirante do Leblon — sometimes called the Mirante do Alto Leblon — sits on the rocks at the far western end of the beach, where the sand gives way to the cliffs beneath the Dois Irmãos hills. It is one of the classic sunset spots in the Zona Sul: the sun drops into the Atlantic beyond the curve of Leblon and Ipanema, and on a clear evening the whole bay turns gold.
Cariocas gather here with cold beers from the kiosk to watch the light go, and it is an easy walk along the promenade from the main beach. Come about an hour before sunset to claim a spot on the wall.
