Praia de Pitangueiras

Guarujá's busiest urban beach, packed with kiosks and weekend crowds

The main beach in central Guarujá, lined with high-rise apartment buildings and backed by rows of food and drink kiosks. Pitangueiras is the closest beach to the ferry terminal and the most popular — which means it can be very crowded on summer weekends and public holidays when São Paulo empties out to the coast.

The beach is long and the water is generally calm, protected by the bay. Arrive early to claim a good spot and rent an umbrella from one of the barraqueiros. The promenade behind the beach has restaurants and bars for a long lunch. If you want something quieter, walk south along the coast to Praia da Enseada.
