The Museu Arquidiocesano de Arte Sacra occupies a colonial building begun in 1770 and holds one of Brazil's strongest collections of sacred art. Its more than two thousand objects include soapstone, porcelain and wood pieces, Portuguese paintings, works by Ataide, and a richly worked golden reliquary.
