The Abarebebê Ruins preserve the remains of a 16th-century Jesuit church site, traditionally linked to early missionary work among Indigenous communities on this part of the São Paulo coast. The surviving clay-and-stone walls are modest, but the history is not.
It is worth pairing with Peruíbe's beaches because it gives the town a deeper time frame: Tupi place names, Jesuit missions, Portuguese settlement, and the long, uneasy colonial history behind the modern resort coast.
