The Piramide is the best-known viewpoint in São Thomé das Letras, a rough stone structure on high ground above town. It is especially popular at sunset, when the hills turn blue and the little quartzite streets below start to glow.
It also says a lot about the place. São Thomé's appeal is not tidy heritage tourism; it is rock, wind, folklore, and people sitting around waiting for the sky to do something interesting.
