The Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceicao is the grand church of Serro, a large colonial temple whose scale feels almost oversized for the small town around it. Its wooden towers, rococo carving, and stonework place it firmly in the baroque church tradition of Minas Gerais.
The setting matters as much as the interior. From the churchyard, the town drops away into lanes, roofs, and hills, making this one of the best places to understand Serro's shape.
