The old pier is one of Puerto Natales' simplest and most photographed sights: a line of broken wooden posts stretching into Última Esperanza Sound. It is not much on paper, but with clouds moving over the mountains and birds working the shallows, it captures the town's edge-of-the-map feeling.
Come around sunset or after a storm clears. The wind can be fierce, but the view across the water is exactly why Puerto Natales stays with people.
