Mount Maria rises behind Port Howard and makes the settlement's headline walk. The summit is 658 metres, high by Falklands standards, and the route crosses rough farm country, scrub, stone runs, and open slopes. On a good day the views stretch across Falkland Sound toward East Falkland and the northern islands.
Start with local advice, carry food and warm layers, and do not treat the modest height as a guarantee of easy walking. Weather moves fast here.
