Eight rooms with attached baths and showers open to the sky, set in the forest inside Iwokrama about 300 km south of Georgetown. The reason to stay is the canopy walkway a short walk away — suspension bridges and platforms up to thirty metres in the crowns, which you can be standing on at dawn rather than driving towards.
That matters for birds. Guyana has over 840 recorded species and the canopy holds the ones you will otherwise only hear: cotingas, macaws, toucans, and with luck the red-billed toucanet. Guides are Makushi and Guyanese naturalists.
