Cathedral of the Incarnation

The Cathedral of the Incarnation stands at the centre of the city, a large early 20th-century church on the main plaza. The building is an imposing presence in the urban landscape, with twin towers and a broad facade facing the square. The interior is relatively simple but well maintained, and the plaza in front is the social heart of the city — shaded by old trees, with benches always occupied in the cooler hours of the day.

The cathedral is the seat of the Diocese of Encarnación and serves as the focus of the city's religious calendar, particularly during Holy Week processions that draw participants from across the Itapúa Department.
