Colonial central square with the Republic-era Casa de la Logia

Lambayeque's main square is quiet and unhurried — a pleasant contrast to the busier plaza in Chiclayo. Colonial and Republic-era buildings line the square, and it is an agreeable place to sit and watch the town go about its business after a morning in the museums.

The most notable building on the square is the Casa de la Logia (also called Casa Montjoy), a fine Republican mansion with a 64-metre wooden balcony that runs the full length of the building's facade — one of the longest colonial balconies in Peru. The balcony has been painstakingly restored and is the most photographed feature of the town's historic centre.
