Tarma's central square is the easy first stop: a neat Andean plaza with palms, flower beds, and the Cathedral of Santa Ana facing the main pedestrian flow. It is not a grand colonial showpiece, but it explains the town's rhythm better than any checklist sight.
Come in the morning or late afternoon, when the light is softer and the square is busiest with local life. Around Easter and during the flower festival season, floral decorations make the centre much more memorable.
