Teatro 25 de Mayo is Rocha's historic theatre and the most interesting cultural building in the centre. Its scale is small, but the theatre carries the same civic ambition you see in many Uruguayan departmental capitals: a belief that even a quiet town needs a proper stage.
If there is a performance, go. If not, the facade is still worth including on a short centre walk, especially because it sits close to the plaza and church.
