Cayo Pelón lives up to its name — "bald cay" — a small slip of sand with a handful of palm trees and almost nothing else. There are no facilities, no shade beyond what you bring, and no other people most days. That is precisely the point: if you want the picture-postcard empty Caribbean island, this is it.
Bring water, sunscreen, food, and an umbrella or tarp for shade. The water around the cay is shallow and clear with patches of coral, good for an hour of slow snorkelling.
