Cours de la Révolution

The Cours de la Révolution is Annaba's main promenade — a wide, tree-lined boulevard running through the centre of the French colonial town. In the late afternoon it fills with locals: families walking, men playing cards outside cafes, vendors selling roasted nuts and snacks. The plane trees provide shade, and the colonial-era buildings lining both sides have an architectural coherence that many Algerian cities have lost.

This is the social heart of Annaba, the place where the city puts itself on display. The cafes along the Cours serve strong coffee and pastries influenced by both French and Algerian tradition. It is a good starting point for exploring the city on foot — the medina, the port, and the road to Hippo Regius all radiate from this central spine.
