Plage de Tigzirt

The beach at Tigzirt is a stony crescent sheltered by the hills that separate the coast from Tizi Ouzou. It is not a grand beach by Mediterranean standards, but the water is clean, the setting is attractive, and the town has a genuinely local character that the better-known Algerian resorts have largely lost. Kabyle families fill the beach in July and August, and the atmosphere in summer is relaxed and social.

The port at the eastern end of the bay adds character — fishing boats come and go, and the sea wall is a popular place to sit in the evenings. The surrounding coast has several smaller coves accessible on foot or by sea, and the water is clear enough for snorkelling along the rocky points.
