Praça de Agostinho Neto is Huambo's formal centre, a large rotunda framed by government buildings and a monument to Angola's first president. It is the clearest surviving expression of the planned-city idea behind old Nova Lisboa.
The square is worth seeing twice if you are staying overnight: once by day for the layout, and once after dark when the lights soften the severity. Be cautious with photography around the official buildings.
