Koro is a Bobo-Fing village built into a granite outcrop about 12 km south of Bobo-Dioulasso. The mud-and-stone houses cling to the rock at improbable angles, and the village's footpaths thread between the boulders rather than around them. It looks like — and is — a place that has existed largely unchanged for centuries.
Visitors are welcome but should arrange a local guide; the village chief expects a courtesy visit and a small contribution. From the top of the outcrop the view stretches across the surrounding savannah, broken only by isolated baobabs and the distant smudge of Bobo itself. Half-day trips can be combined with the Dafra catfish pools to the east.
