One of the better-regarded seafood restaurants on the waterfront side of the city centre, La Mer Rouge does the straightforward things well: grilled fish and prawns caught locally in the Gulf of Tadjoura, served with rice or French-style accompaniments. The location catches whatever breeze the Gulf provides, which matters considerably in Djibouti. Order the grilled capitaine (emperor fish) if it's available. Prices are high by regional standards but reasonable for what you get. Reservations recommended in the evening.
