5 Blogs That Show You Accra

A Ghanaian-Caribbean writer on Makola Market, a South African three years into living there, and a trip that was entirely self-funded and reads like it

Accra is badly served by the internet. Search it and you get the same six attractions, mostly written by people who spent two nights in Osu. These five do better — Makola Market as a place you shop rather than photograph, Jamestown beyond the lighthouse and the street-art festival, the fabric shops, the beaches, the day trip to Cape Coast, and the everyday business of living in the city rather than visiting it.

It's a shorter list than the others here, and that's the honest state of it. Ghana's travel-writing scene deserves more than it has; if you know a blog we've missed, tell us.

  4. 04 Stoked To Travel stokedtotravel.com · Claire Stokes Her Ghana trip was entirely self-funded with no tourism board involved, and it reads that way — honest about what worked and what didn't.
  5. 05 Amateur Traveler amateurtraveler.com · Chris Christensen A long-running independent travel podcast and blog. The Ghana episode is an unhurried hour of orientation before you book anything.
