Bolgatanga Library is a small but notable piece of modern architecture by J. Max Bond, Jr., the American architect who lived and worked in Ghana in the 1960s. Its perforated walls and umbrella-like roof were designed to keep the building cool and well ventilated in the Upper East climate.
It is most rewarding as a quick architectural stop near the centre of Bolgatanga, especially when paired with the nearby Upper East Regional Museum and market.
